Subaru of New England Donates $25,000 for Green Up Day Vermontby Subaru of New England on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 1:44pm ·WATERBURY, VT - On April 10, 2012, Subaru of New England presented Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin a $25,000 check for the non-profit Green Up Day organization to fund dumpsters and haul-away fees in their continued efforts to clean up what Hurricane Irene has left behind.

This comes in an addition to the $100,000 Subaru of New England donated this past fall, to the Vermont Disaster Relief Fund.

"I encourage all businesses to join this initiative and please give money so that we can clean this up," said Ernie Boch Jr., President & CEO of Subaru of New England.

Mr. Boch and other Subaru of New England staff were taken along the banks of the Winooski River, in Waterbury, Vermont, where remnants of household items, tires and other debris still scatter the area. While there is still a long road to travel until complete restoration is achieved, there has certainly been huge progress made by thousands of volunteers and donors who care very deeply for Vermont residents, their families, the environment and returning it to a state even better than how it was prior to Irene.
