The 2026 model year also sees the introduction of an all-new Crosstrek Hybrid variant, generating 194 horsepower/199 pound-feet of torque and achieving an EPA-estimated 42 mpg in combined city/highway driving. All Subaru SUVs come standard with enhanced handling and control of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.
By comparison, the 2026 Honda HR-V has a single 2.0-liter engine (145 horsepower, 138 pound-feet of torque) with no upgrade option or hybrid variant. It's competent for daily commuting, but it doesn't match the performance breadth of the Crosstrek. The Honda HR-V, meanwhile, sits at just seven inches of ground clearance and is primarily tuned for pavement. Its optional AWD system provides some peace of mind in wet weather but lacks the depth of control and engineering built into every Subaru SUV. Roof rails are standard on most Crosstrek trims for added cargo flexibility, including reinforced roof rails in the Wilderness trim that can support a rooftop tent.
