You may already be aware of the growing amount of Cash Mobs in our area. Hopefully you have even had the opportunity to join and participate. If not, check out our previous post What is a Cash mob?

Oxford's Cash Mob recently held their first event this past Saturday at Express Yourself Gifts & Baskets at 245 Main Street. Like many Oxford residents, I've seen the sign and driven by hundreds of times always with the thought of 'I'd like to go in there sometime'. Well, Saturday, Nov. 24 was the day designated by the 'Mob' and fortunately I was following them on Facebook (facebook.com/groups/CashMobOxford). I stopped in with my niece (why not start the local shopping bug at an early age) and was pleasantly surprised.

This is a great little store - I guess I wasn't expecting so many varieties of items. I had an idea that because they designed gift baskets that we would walk into a small area set up for just ordering. Silly me!

The way the owner, Sharon Kuchenbecker Day, has the area arranged is beautiful. You can come in looking for one gift item, but somehow you'll start filling your basket with several. It's possible that you will even start seeing a pattern or theme in your selection. Next you'll be wanting Sharon to help you pick out and arrange your selection into an artistic, one-of-a-kind basket.

Or maybe you have an idea but are not the type to be able to pick and choose. No problem. There are many pre-made gifts available to choose from or discuss what you want or what you need with Sharon and pretty soon she'll have you expressing yourself and on your way with something spectacular!

We were, of course, drawn to the chocolate selections that included Godiva and the local Sutton favorite Eaton Farm's Peanut Butter Lust bars. This was perfect for me after I had discussed these with guys at work and found they had never had one! Sharon even let us know that she is expecting their dark chocolate version very soon. Among the many selections of coffee, tea, and cookies we also saw great baby gift items and quality bath products. The type of shop Sharon is keeping is best compared to one that you would find in a much more tourist centered area like Sturbridge and exactly in keeping with what you would want on beautiful Oxford's Main St. Great selection, great products, great advice & great service. Save yourself the gas money and shop here this year!

We were there at 1pm, and so probably missed the mob at full swing. Still there was at least six to ten other shoppers browsing and chatting about the advertised 'mob' while we were there. Many had just started their holiday purchasing and were discussing the unheard of possibility of having found a 'one-stop shopping' place where they were finding something for everyone on their list!

While waiting to check out I grabbed a last minute item, a Scentsy Blackberry and Vanilla Travel Tin. I'm not usually a heavy fragrance person, but these travel tins allow you to choose how much fragrance you have by how far you open the tin. So now my Long Subaru has another great accessory! And my niece thanks you for the little parting gift of your business card wrapped up with those great soft peppermints - very classy and delicious.

We really enjoyed our first visit to Express Yourself Gifts & Baskets. It was a lot of fun and great to see that there are so many who have an interest in shopping locally. Sharon's business card statement 'Solving your 'present' dilemmas since 1995' really makes a lot of scentsy (couldn't resist).
