Leasing works for most customers, but not all. Affordability is the key. When you lease you end up paying for depreciation or the part of the vehicle's cost that you actually used. This means that you're not tying up any extra amounts of money.  As a lessee, you don't have to worry about paying repair bills while maintaining higher monthly payments because your car is always within the warranty period. And, assuming you've keep the car in good condition, you also won't be worried about owning an asset that is continuously depreciating in value.

Subaru leases have built-in gap coverage which pays the difference between what you owe on your lease and what your vehicle is actually worth if it is stolen or destroyed in an accident. If you have predictable driving habits and are able to "guesstimate" where your annual mileage will fall within your lease parameters, then leasing is a practical option.

By far the greatest joy of buying a car is that it is yours. One day in the future you will no longer have monthly payments to make and you don't have to think about trading it in until you are good and ready.  You can rack up whatever mileage you wish and move about the country at will.  And, of course as a Subaru driver, you not only have the highest predicted resale value in the industry, you also know that 96% of Subaru vehicles built in the last ten years are still on the road. So, if you plan on keeping your car for more than five years (and many Subaru drivers do) then buying makes more sense for you.
