Following the successful compact Solterra and the recently announced midsize Trailseeker, Subaru is pushing into exciting new territory with the upcoming 2026 Subaru Uncharted. This all-electric subcompact crossover blends adventurous styling, impressive performance, and everyday practicality in a nimble package. Unveiled in July 2025 and expected to arrive at dealerships like Long Subaru in early 2026, the Uncharted aims to offer a compelling EV option for New England drivers who value Subaru's proven capability, safety, and reliability, and want something with minimal space requirements.
Power, Performance, and Range
Building on the successful formula of the Solterra, which served as Subaru's initial foray into electric vehicles, the Uncharted brings more power, extended range, and multiple trim levels with unique driving dynamics. The top Sport and GT trims feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain with an impressive 338 horsepower—nearly 100 more than most mainstream EV rivals in its class. These versions are expected to go from 0–60 mph in under five seconds while maintaining all-weather confidence thanks to Subaru's signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and dual-function X-MODE® traction control.
The entry-level Premium trim is front-wheel drive only and will be produced in limited numbers. It emphasizes efficiency and affordability, offering over 300 miles of estimated range and 221 horsepower. For drivers who spend most of their time commuting between places like Shrewsbury, Worcester, or Natick, this version could strike the right balance between value and range.
Sport and GT models are expected to deliver a still-impressive 290-mile range estimate, thanks to a 74.7-kWh high-capacity battery and aerodynamic design. Fast-charging capability is standard, allowing the Uncharted to replenish its battery from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes, even in cold-weather conditions—a critical consideration for winter in Webster or Putnam.
Compact and Capable
The 2026 Uncharted shares Subaru's adventurous DNA. It has a shorter overall length than the Solterra but more cargo space behind the second row. A tight turning radius comparable to the Crosstrek makes it well-suited for navigating narrow roads or crowded parking lots around Worcester or downtown Webster.
Chassis rigidity and smooth ride quality come from extensive use of high-strength steel and the natural stability of an underfloor EV battery. Additionally, Subaru has tuned the suspension for confident handling on pavement and enhanced grip on surfaces like gravel, dirt, or snow.
Design cues like sharp LED lighting, available two-tone paint, and a signature illuminated six-star Subaru badge up front make a strong first impression. Low-profile roof rails are included on AWD models, making it easier to carry bikes or skis for a quick weekend trip north.
Technology and Interior Features
Inside, the Uncharted feels thoroughly modern. A massive 14-inch touchscreen anchors the dashboard and runs Subaru's latest infotainment software. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are included on all trims, along with dual wireless phone chargers and USB-C ports in both rows, giving you convenient smartphone integration without cable clutter.
Subaru's All-Weather Package is standard, including heated front seats, heated mirrors, and a windshield wiper de-icer. Higher tiers add thoughtful upgrades, like the Sport trim's heated steering wheel, panoramic view monitor, and water-repellent StarTex® upholstery. The GT brings premium attributes like ventilated front seats, a panoramic moonroof, a digital rearview mirror, Harman Kardon® audio, and exclusive 20-inch wheels.
Built for the Real World
Safety remains a core Subaru value. The Uncharted includes an updated suite of EyeSight® driver-assist features across all trims, including Pre-Collision Braking, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Traffic Jam Assist, and Lane Change Assist.
The Uncharted offers ample rear passenger accommodations, with legroom comparable to the Crosstrek, plus heated rear seats in GT models. Sustainability-minded buyers will also appreciate the eco-conscious interior materials, designed for durability and reduced environmental impact, while still looking nice.
