Sweetpea Friends of Rutland Animals Inc. will participate in the upcoming Love-A-Pet event hosted here at Long Subaru. This initiative aims to raise awareness and support for animals in need and will focus on adoption the day of the event and support for our local shelters in need.

Founded in September 2000 by Dick Clark, the retired Rutland Animal Control Officer, and a dedicated group of citizens, Sweetpea Friends of Rutland Animals Inc. originated from the harrowing rescue of a sick and frightened dog. This dog, affectionately named Sweetpea, inspired the formation of the organization and became the symbol of their mission to ensure that no animal is viewed as "disposable." After enduring a difficult recovery, Sweetpea eventually found solace in a loving home, where she thrived alongside other animals, until her untimely passing in 2003.

Since its inception, Sweetpea Friends has been dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating animals in the Rutland area. However, the organization faced significant challenges, including a devastating fire in November 2015 that destroyed the main shelter building. While theNew-Shelter-Shell.jpg office survived, rebuilding efforts have been ongoing, and the need for financial contributions and professional services has never been greater. The renovations of the small boarding kennel area are a testament to the commitment of the community, but the organization still requires substantial support to stabilize its operating fund and rebuild the main shelter.

The Love-A-Pet event at the Subaru dealership presents a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together in support of Sweetpea Friends of Rutland Animals Inc. Participants can learn more about the organization and learn how you can contribute to a cause that embodies love and compassion for all creatures.
