Long Subaru has again demonstrated their commitment to the community, showing they genuinely care about helping animals and supporting local shelters. Over the years they have shown their support in various ways, including donations, hosting events to raise awareness, and promoting adoption days. Their latest generous act involved donating to Webster Animal Control in honor of Ziggy, whose story went viral, shining a light on the urgent need for action against animal abuse.

Webster Police became aware of a situation involving a dog, Ziggy, who was being severely abused. They immediately called Animal Control Officer Desirae Roussin. She recognized the urgent need and acted by rescuing the dog and taking her into her home. After evaluating Ziggy and working with her, Desirae determined that Ziggy was gentle and affectionate despite her traumatic past.

However, Ziggy's journey took a challenging turn when she began to show some concerning symptoms, including obsessive circling and collapsing. She quickly was given a vet examination to determine the cause. It was detected that Ziggy was suffering from brain damage and other complications. Unfortunately, this meant that she would need additional treatment that would cost more than Webster Animal Control had. This prompted Desirae to turn to the community and post about the situation.

This is when Ziggy went viral and the troubling situation came to the attention of Joshua Costa, the service manager of Long Subaru. He promptly reached out to Long Subaru’s Retail Principle, Scott Barry, about the situation. Recognizing this dire situation, Scott Barry sprang into action and reached out to Place Motors, another local dealership, to join in a donation. Both dealerships made the decision to make a generous donation of $1,000 each to the Webster Animal Shelter in honor of Ziggy.

Desirae offered to bring Ziggy and pick up the donation, this way they could meet the wonderful dog they were helping. The staff took this opportunity to pet and play with Ziggy. Her happy nature and need for belly rubs showed how resilient this dog has been.

Webster Animal Control is pleased to announce that Ziggy is well on her way to recovering and looking for her forever home. A big thank you was given to Long Subaru as they showed their support for Webster Animal Control and their hard work. This contribution is just an example of the efforts Long Subaru makes to help the community. They hope to continue to raise awareness about many animals who are in need. Long Subaru will continue to work with Webster Animal Control in the future and will endeavor to live up to their Subaru Love Promise.  Ziggy a light brown dog laying on her back asking for belly rubs
