Webster drivers: a little-known truth is that the air conditioner in your car has to be recharged. At Long Subaru, we're here to help you make it happen. If you're in Killingly, Connecticut, our dealership isn't far away to help you with all of your maintenance needs. Learn more about charging your air conditioner below.

How to know when it's time to charge your A/C

If your air conditioner seems to be performing sub-optimally, it's probably time you need to recharge the system with new refrigerant. This can be performed at home or with the help of our service center at Long Subaru.

Natick drivers will want to buy A/C Pro Synthetic refrigerant or A/C Avalanche refrigerant. Both fall under the R134A category.

Drivers will want to determine the temperature of the ambient air in your vehicle. If the temperature of the air in your car is 55 degrees Fahrenheit or below, it is not necessary to charge the air conditioner. Buying a temperature gauge will help you determine if it's time to charge your car.

If you do need to charge your air conditioner, locate the low-side service port in your vehicle. Wipe away any dust with a clean rag, and then take off the cap from the low-side service port. From there, you can attach the charging hose and add the refrigerant and then charge the system. Remove the hose and check the service port cap before reinstalling. This will help you avoid any leaks from your air conditioner system.
