A common question that comes up is,
That
is a common question, but not always true. We shop local repair shops
so we can be competitive for things like: oil and filter changes,
alignments, tire rotations, tune ups, etc.
Sometimes, people compare prices, but they are not comparing apples to apples, for example, a local shop might advertise brakes installed for one price, say, $99.00 - but not quote the labor, or they may charge an additional price to
resurface the brake rotors, or replace them or they may tell you the
brake calipers need to be replaced for additional money.
I have known people who stopped in at a local store or national chain for their $99 Brakes special, and walked out with a $1,000 dollar invoice! Remember,
they quote you a low price to get you in the door, then sell additional
'needed items' for much more.
We will always quote you the complete price after we inspect the brakes so there is no surprise.
Additionally, we have seen aftermarket brake pads wear out in 30,000 miles, whereas Subaru brakes will generally go 50,000 miles or more. So you get what you pay for. Less money will often translate into less quality, and less life.
