The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety announced that the Subaru EyeSight system was the top rated forward collision avoidance system among all mid-size vehicles. IIHS issued their first crash avoidance ratings - with the Subaru Legacy and Subaru Outback earning PERFECT scores.

Subaru Legacy and Outback models equipped with the EyeSight system earned a Superior rating and the top score overall in that category, outscoring Cadillac ATS and SRX, Mercedes Benz C-Class and Volvo S60 and XC60 in that same Superior category. Tests were conducted at 12 mph and 25 mph, and ratings were assigned to each test result as well as a rating for forward collision warning.
