Destination: Hallamore Clydesdale Stables 138 Bedford St. (Rt.18), Lakeville, MA

For everyone who's enjoyed the Hallamore Eight-Horse Hitch at the Big E or local parades - you can visit them in Lakeville, MA! The Barry family very graciously allow visitor access to the barns from 9-12 noon and again at 1-3pm, 7 days a week whenever the gates are open.

I had heard this years ago when speaking with a customer who worked for Hallamore. Still, it wasn't until this past month that I actually got to go.

It is a very easy drive with not much traffic on a Sunday morning. We had planned on stopping for breakfast before stopping at the Barry farm. Fortunately, we decided to drive by to make sure that we were in the right area. Well, once we saw the trucks outside we had to stop in just for a look.

Boy, were we glad we did! We were greeted by Shamus, one of two gorgeous Golden Retrievers. Eight of the Clydesdales were out being groomed as they had an engagement to attend. So we got to see the whole process including watching them loaded into their transport. Is there a better sound in this world than horses hooves?

We actually were able to meet Mr. Barry who introduced us to their newest addition 'Trooper' born in Lincolnshire, England and who had just arrived three day previous. Weighing in at 2200lbs., Trooper is quite impressive.

After the entourage left we did go to the recommended Percy's Place for breakfast. Known for their homemade bread and corn beef hash, Percy's Place was an extra treat and only a mile away.

We stopped back in after 1pm to tour the second barn and take some more pictures. We also met Morris the barn cat who spends his days sleeping on the dryer located in the barn restroom.

It was a great day! As it was still early we went the extra 17 miles out to see the ocean at Plymouth. We look forward to going back in the winter to see if we can catch the Clydes playing in the snow!

And yes, I added them to the new Subaru Guide to Everything!
