In a grueling battle, Impreza capped off its Cinderella run and defeated BMW 3 Series by the slimmest of margins to claim the 2012 Car Craziness championship. Impreza captured just over 50 percent of the popular vote, with only SEVEN votes separating it from its BMW challenger.
2012 Car Craziness was a tournament to determine the most popular vehicles on the road. Four categories or "regions" (Small Cars, Midsize/Large Cars, SUVs/Trucks and Luxury Vehicles) were each populated with the eight most researched vehicles within that category on Edmunds.com. Vehicles with the highest research volume since the beginning of the year were then seeded No. 1 and continue in descending order. Votes were collected via Facebook.
Impreza's magical ride started was also a testament of virtual global domination. Subaru knocked off two Japanese rivals (Toyota Prius and Mazda3), two German competitors (VW Jetta and BMW 3 Series) and one American icon (Ford Mustang) on its path to glory.
